Trust the Process…
As courage stands tall and we lean into trusting the process, it’s important to garner what we’ve learned from life’s lessons. Hopefully those life lessons have resulted in greater wisdom in our planning, in our decision making, how we engage & collaborate with others and how we lead.
Wisdom is the fruit of willingness to learn. For example, every disciplined marathon runner reflects on their training to determine where they may have gained or lost time, how their gait is helping or hindering their pace etc. We can apply that same reflection, by assessing if we had good intentions but maybe ignored the impact? Did we misjudge timelines, as a result we missed deliverables? Or, could we be so busy that we’ve missed/neglected opportunities to incorporate perspectives that can assist with reaching the desired goal(s)? The list could go on and on, the point of today’s HR tip - not to be afraid to own how we’re moving when we’re leading.
Inviting colleagues to offer authentic candor is a part of the process. Explore what could have been handled differently. Best practice - avoid trying smooth things over as if nothing has happened. Just as boldly as things unfold, be just as bold with taking responsibility. The moment we do that is the moment we continue our journey towards success.
Move forward with greater clarity and apply business maturity by not repeating costly mistakes. Note, cost is not solely limited to the budget line, it’s also the cost that comes with losing team cohesiveness and trust.
Trust the process, begin with self reflection.
